Brief Description

Sitting atop a gentle slope, the village is built around the church of Our Lady of the Rosary, which dates from the 16^th century and is made in late-Gothic style.

Completely free standing and built in concrete and stone masonry, it is structured around a single nave divided into four sections, with three entrances to access the interior and covered with vaults,a Baida (side epistle chapel), and barreled with lunettes (nave).

The façade, of great simplicity, is resolved through a granite arch cover that is slightly pointed, with beading and a rectangular frame and gable. On the right side stands a square masonry tower, designed after the rest of the building, which holds the bell tower and has a spire.

On the interior, there are two small baroque altarpieces corresponding to the opposite sides of the chapel. The altar is of an indefinable style with a Baroque style. The most notable feature of the church is a beautiful polychrome Renaissance sculpture of Our Lady of Health, probably from the 16^th century.

In honor of the parish there is a feast that has its roots in the town, called the ‘Luminarias’, or Lights. The festival has an unknown origin, which consists of lighting fires during the evening of the first Saturday in October, after the ringing of the bells from the Church of the Rosary.

Some attribute this tradition to a ceremony commemorating the victory of the Christians under John of Austria over the Turks and the Battle of Lepanto, which prevented the collapse of Western civilization that took place on October 7, 1571, the Feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary.
