Brief Description
It was declared Historic-artistic monument of national character in 1982, with whose cause was important works of restoration and improvements, which lasted until the year 1989.
They built this temple on another that was attached to the castle in the year 1235 in honour of Santa María. It is the most representative building of the population. It has a rectangular ground plan with three naves and a triple header. It is covered with vaults. The cover in three bodies of classic style, dates from Century XVIII. The altarpiece of the high altar is Baroque and attributed to the workshop of Churriguera. In the interior include the image of the Cristo de las Batallas attributed to Berruguete; the work startles by its twisting, which leads to that popularly is known as the Christ of the Scribble, and a carving of Luis de Morales called "The Virgin and the Saints John".
