You are in Index Fiestas Saint Matthew
Date: September 21st
The Saint Matthew festivities are organized through the efforts of Felipa Mendez, a neighbor in the town where the temple bearing the same name is found. A group of people decided 20 years ago to restore this festival that Alburquerque had lost.
The festivities begin with a Mass honoring the local patron saint, in which it is a tradition for the local children to conduct an offering of toys to the apostle Matthew, while women of the parish distribute donuts to all attendees during the homily.
The celebration ends with a bell ringing contest and the traditional fair in the village square.
